ROUNDHILLS

Project: New house building programme at Roundhills, Waltham Abbey, Essex

Client: Epping Forest District Council

Architect: Pelling's LLP

Budget: £2,450,000

Timeframe: 52 Weeks

Brief:

To demolish three locations of disused council garages as well as a small underused community hall, followed by the building of 14 properties for affordable rent as part of the council’s five-year plan for new house building – their first house building scheme for 30 years.

The new lifetime-accredited houses were energy efficient and came complete with private parking and landscape gardens.

All the properties were quickly snapped up by Epping residents on the council’s waiting list and the councillor responsible for housebuilding in the authority, Syd Stavrou, praised our outstanding workmanship.

Outcome:

Despite the project taking place adjacent to existing residential properties, not a single complaint was registered.

The quality of the project was confirmed again when it received a Secure by Design Gold Award.

How we did it:

Based on a design and build contract with Epping Forest and Employers Agents Pelling’s LLP, we constructed high quality and energy efficient homes for council residents on their housing list. We resolved many site issues during the construction period, including remediation difficulties as well as utilities and security elements.
