MARDEN & FAVERISHAM CLOSE
Project: Marden and Faversham Close, Chigwell Row, Essex
Client: Epping Forest District Council
Architect: Pellings LLP
Budget: £1,100,000
Timeframe: 54 Weeks
Brief:
To convert 20 derelict, council-owned bedsits into 10 modern, one-bedroom flats. At the same time, a disused community hall was to be converted into three luxury flats for council rent. In both cases problems with damp, knotweed and mechanical and electrical issues also had to be tackled.
Outcome:
The council were so pleased with the result, they initiated two further important house building schemes. The local councillor and Development Management Committee Chairman, Brian Sandler, expressed his high regard and satisfaction with our work and his sentiments were echoed by the RICS Regeneration Awards judges.
How we did it:
Our professional associates and in-house management and trades team performed a first-class restoration (including elimination of knotweed) on buildings that had been left derelict for a decade. Having stripped the units back to their core, we brought them up to new build standards – meeting all the latest SBD, lifetime homes, environmental and safety regulations.
